Restorative Practices: Intro to Circle Facilitation
In this two-day intensive听course听held on a Friday and Sunday, students will be expected to do some preliminary reading and other assignments to gain a basic foundation of the principles of听restorative听justice, its origins in the practices of Indigenous peoples, and some of the current applications of its practices. Over the two days of the听course, students will participate in one of the听restorative听practices, Circle Practice, and learn the basics of participation in and facilitation of a听restorative听circle, such as one used for community building or low-level conflict resolution. Various applications of this practice will be discussed.
This two-day intensive course has required preparation (reading and related assignments) in advance of the class meetings. Designed for no more than 15 students, this course involves participation in restorative circles in order to learn the basics of the practice of circle facilitation.
